Supervisory Board
Our Supervisory Board oversees and advises our Management Board on matters affecting Sucden’s vision and strategy. It monitors the appropriateness of the actions taken to implement our strategy and also considers our behaviors with regard to regulatory compliance.
Sami Demal
President of the Supervisory Board
Sami Demal served as an advisor to Sucden’s Chairman before becoming a member of the Group’s Management Board from 2003 to 2017. Previously, Sami worked for 15 years as a Management Board member and as Co-Chairman of Cocoa Barry Group. He is a graduate of the Ecole des Mines in Nancy, one of the leading Engineering schools in France, and also has an MBA from Cornell University.

Thierry Songeur
Member
Thierry Songeur joined Sucden in 1988 trading rice. From 1995 onwards his focus turned to sugar becoming in 1997 CEO of Sucden Americas. Thierry Songeur was a member of Sucden’s Management Board from 2010 to June 2025, serving as General Manager between 2019 and 2025. Thierry has been appointed member of the Supervisory Board in June 2025.
