Global Trade Flows

Around the world, the supply and demand for raw sugar is concentrated while, in comparison, the white sugar market is much more widely distributed.

Brazil is both the biggest producer and exporter of raw sugar. Its most important market is Asia, which is the largest consumer of raw sugar. In addition, Brazil supplies significant volumes of raw sugar to Africa and the Middle East.

For white sugar, Asia is the main production and exporting region, with India and Thailand the leading individual countries. Brazil is also a major producer and exporter. Africa and the Far East are the largest consumers.
