General Cocoa Company (Genco), a division of Coffee America, is one of the largest cocoa traders in North America. Based in New York, we source cocoa beans and products from producers, processors and exporters around the world and supply them to chocolate manufacturers and cocoa processors across North America, Europe and Asia.

With a heritage dating back to the 1930s, Genco has long-standing relationships with cocoa exporters and processors around the world. This, combined with our proven logistics expertise and renowned high levels of service makes us a strong trading partner in the global cocoa supply chain.
Our cocoa beans and products sourcing network stretches across the globe to nearly all producing countries including the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and Peru.

Sustainability commitment
Genco is committed to sustainable agriculture and to the cocoa farmers that are the cornerstone of our business. As such, we support our clients’ sustainability objectives through certification and/or bespoke programs. We work directly with cocoa farmers and through partnerships at origin to promote good agricultural practices and awareness of environmental and social concerns.
Genco is an active member of the Cocoa Merchants Association of America (CMAA) and the Federation of Cocoa Commerce (FCC).
Through Sucden Cocoa, we are represented at and supportive of the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) and participate in key committees at the Intercontinental Exchange. We also support the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) through Sucden Cocoa which joined the Foundation as a contributing partner in November 2019.
